From my understanding (at least Australian exports) 1999 and 2000 models years had the cdl internals but not the linkage, so if needs be (and with an 11mm spanner i believe) you can get under the car and manually lock the cdl even if you don't have the shifter linkage. 2001 and 2002 models don't...

Always possible that it has been changed to make it easier to undo or so that you don't have to go buy large spanners to undo it. I guess if its the right thread, i would keep it as female 1/2" plugs are pretty much impossible to burr

I agree with the helicoiling idea, did it on my td5 and works a treat, just make sure you don't drill too far and keep the drill parallel to the other studs, simple way of doing that is lie a straight edge on the other studs and just keep the drill level with that... Good luck with it!

Having just fitted a Zenith copy to a 2a 2.25, so far i cant fault it, but would think if you wanted to do it right, get the original reconditioned. As mentioned above it may be warped which zenith carbys can do, also the butterfly valve fitting after years of use can start to wear away and let...

Well having got a few landys with over 250,000k's and one with twice that, that go remarkably well i wouldn't say they don't do longevity... having said that, i have heard turbo jobs require the body off, but also read somewhere that the body isn't actually as hard as you might think to take of...

When it comes to rangie sports what do you feel is better at towing; the 3.6 tdv8 or 4.2 supercharged? Definitely aware of the economy difference, but lets say i were to hook up 3.5 tonnes on the back and tow up a mountain, which would feel more effortless? And also how would they compare to...

interesting, thanks for the info sierrafery. Im going to take the car into local landy experts relatively soon so ill get them to put all the gauges and diagnostic equipment into it and see what we find. Hopefully will be able to solve the 3 amigos at the same time.

thanks for that, ill try that and see if that makes any difference. But if the the 'high pressure side' of the fuel pump is on its way out then does that mean a fuel pump replacement in general? The fuel pump isn't really making the loud noises that indicate a td5 fuel pump failure.

Hi everyone... an interesting problem here. On my 1999 Discovery 2 Td5 manual, in the low rev range sometimes and not all the time i find that the car has no go at all, you push the throttle down fully and nothing really happens. VERY slowly as the revs build the power will all of a sudden come...

The zenith carbies are the 175 CD's... Can't find anything that tells me where they may come from so would they have been on the later 90/110 with the emissions stuff as stated above or are they earlier ones without all that, that would have come with an early Range Rover?

ill have a look at oe specs but 8.13 sounds a bit more like it. Not interested in selling it or anything and it doesn't bother me that the block wont be matching numbers, I just want it to be fairly close to original spec... some non originality is okay but yeah I just like the old 3.5.
