I agree with the helicoiling idea, did it on my td5 and works a treat, just make sure you don't drill too far and keep the drill parallel to the other studs, simple way of doing that is lie a straight edge on the other studs and just keep the drill level with that... Good luck with it!

thanks for that, ill try that and see if that makes any difference. But if the the 'high pressure side' of the fuel pump is on its way out then does that mean a fuel pump replacement in general? The fuel pump isn't really making the loud noises that indicate a td5 fuel pump failure.

The zenith carbies are the 175 CD's... Can't find anything that tells me where they may come from so would they have been on the later 90/110 with the emissions stuff as stated above or are they earlier ones without all that, that would have come with an early Range Rover?

Hi everyone, just finished taking the engine out of the 73' Range Rover and started stripping the engine down for a rebuild when i found the serial number. As far as I'm aware, the 15G means it's the gutless version from a 90 or 110? Can anyone shed some light on this? cheers

You could ditch the rear silencer or the middle muffler and run that through the rear silencer. The muffler tends to change the sound of the exhaust and quiet it down at the same time but the rear silencer only quietens it down without altering sound. A straight through system running only...

Terrafirma make a good straight pipe replacement for the centre muffler which was about $180 over here in oz. Have one on my TD5 disco and think its brilliant, makes a nice throaty sound but doesn't drone under load. Is your disco v8 or tdi?
