    Engine number location 2.5 petrol

You'll find it on the right hand side, looking forward, at the top of the engine block, just below the head and to the rear of the distributor. It should begin with 17H......

    Rear cross member chequer plate

Chequer plate directly onto the chassis member? mmmmm You'll have your very own ready made battery. Why not try to harness that power and use it to constantly trickle charge your own battery. Now THAT is a selling point! Trying to stay out of the politics of this, but i would suggest...

    Coolant temprature on 109

OK, a couple of quick questions/observations, then; 1 was the original series sender working? If yes, how do you know? 2 Is your fuel gauge working correctly? if problems there you may need to look at the voltage stabiliser just behind the dash. 3 If you're happy with all that, try testing...

    Coolant temprature on 109

Hi, I would exepct that you still have the original temp sender on your TDi. And you have the original gauge for a 109. So there's a mismatch. Suggest you look into changing the temp sender on the engine. I don't know what fits, I'm sure someone will be along with the info. If not, just...

Best Carb for S3 with Def 2.5 engine

Have a look at the routing of the cable as well, if already oiled, try to reduce bends, etc. If you have the engine number, look up Glencoyne on the interweb. He's very helpful and has a listing of all engines including the 17H. Should give you some background. Your engine is originally...

Best Carb for S3 with Def 2.5 engine

First of all check it is what you think it is. The engine woulod be a 17H 2.5 petrol. check the engine number, which is located on the right hand side (facing front of car) of the engine block just about where the rear blanking plate is located. If it is a 17H, the standard carb is a twin...

    Wonky wheel

Have you got big tyres? Is the steering stop set correctly? Maybe the tyre is rubbing on the leaf spring at full lock making it appear to "wobble".

    Series 3 roof lining

Years ago, my wife had the bright idea of painting the vinyl seats of her Mini with emulsion. It flaked off pretty quickly.
