I will give it a good brush and a poke tonight and see how it looks. It was the garage I normally use but a different tester. He called me through and showed me around while it was on the ramp - if he was being picky I'm sure there are plenty of other things he could have failed it on.

That is exactly what I thought when he showed me - they seem solid but I assume he has picked up on something I haven't. I will check the exact wording when I get home.
Those brackets are the only thing it failed on and I don't think it was a case of them trying to get work as they don't do...

Hi all,
My 97 300 tdi has just failed its MOT and will require some welding. The tester has marked the brackets in the pictures below but I cant find out what they are called to get the repairs arranged. Anyone know?
Thanks
Ben.

My '97 Disco 1 has been on the drive for a year while i slowly work through the list of MOT failures. I thought it would take me a fortnight at most - unfortunately work and life keep getting in the way.
So, my question is - other than the flat bettery, is there anything I should be looking...

What a guy! Once again I am in your debt Mr Martin.
Job done.

In the middle of replacing all callipers and discs on my disco 1. Having a bit of a nightmare splitting the discs and hubs - they are well and truly rusted together.
Any tips on getting them apart? I've tried lashings of WD40 and my biggest hammer. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Ive got a set of half leather seats (I think from a rover 220) in Liverpool if that's any good for you? Had them in my 90 and they were very comfy with lots of side support.
Thanks
Ben.

Do you do similar for a discovery 1? Also winch bumper and Rock sliders?
Thanks

Would you be able to drop these off in widnes? If yes, I'll take em. If no, I'll probably still take em but will need to borrow a bigger car
Thanks

very nice - i like the sill and rockslider in one. Just need to take a deep breath, dig out the welder (which ive never used) and give it a go. Had quotes from £1800 down to £800 for someone else to do the sills and boot floor. Just going to try myself and then pay someone else if it all goes wrong.

i was leaning towards the box section as i can cut out most of whats left and make sure there isnt any rust hiding in there. it will only be for green laneing and camping. ive got something more motorway friendly for going to work in.

Just wondering what the recommended repair method would be for sills in the below state?
Cut out and slot in box section?
Patch over holes?
YRM repair panels?
If YRM panels then will the patches that have been welded on by a previous owner need to be cut out as they sit slightly proud of the...

Anyone know if wings in this state are classed an MOT fail?

Just wanted some opinions as to whether these discs need replacing while im doing the callipers and pads or if they will be ok?
They have been stood for about 6 months so im hoping its mostly surface rust that will come off with a good scrub - any tips for cleaning them?
-
I'll take all the repair panels if you still have them? I'm assuming the sills are for a 5 door discovery 1? If you can give a price for postage that would be great. If it's too difficult to post I'll try and drive down from Widnes.
Thanks.
