Thanks for the reply Abe I have not yet checked for air locks but I have noticed one side of the radiator is cooler than the other and also when the engine is hot with engine switched off you can spin the fan freely, not sure this is supposed to happen. Also when the temp gauge goes sky high...

I know this a 2005 thread but I have just fitted an oversized intercooler to my 300td1 and I am having the same overheating problem as you, did you mange to solve it in the end and what was it ???/ Cheers Liam

I have just fitted a new allard oversized intercooler on my defender 300tdi but have now found the temp gauge going into the red, I thought it might run a little higher, as the intercooler sits infront of the radiator. Has anyone fit one of these and did they have the same problem or could it be...

Thinking about putting an oversized intercooler in my Defender, the type that sits infront of the radiator, has anyone done this? and does it stop air cooling the radiator down thus cause the engine to get even hotter? If I am talking rubbish, ignore me!!! Also I have noticed them for sale at...

Going down the motorway I heard a noise it sounded like a baloon going down and my turbo boost gauge is hardly moving up. I don't think it has lost any power and I am still getting the turbo whirring sound. Can any of you experts give me any advice please.:confused:

Yes tried that and it works OK. I presume I got the right tube, Take a look at these photos and tell me I have not cut in to the wrong one .

Well that's what I thought so I teed it in ( the turbo side) but not a bit of movement at all !!!!!!

Just fitted an after market Dash to my defender 300tdi it has a couple of gauge holes so I put in a volt and a vacuum gauge just to fill the holes. Can anyone please tell me how to connect the vacuum tube to the engine. Thanks Liam

Can any of you experts advise me about fitting a vacuum pump to my defender 90 300 tdi please, is it a DIY job or a lot more technical than that? Cheers Liam
