    Disco 2 2004 Dead! Electrical

:):) I’m 62, 1st car was a Marina, (laugh but don’t judge me), so never used anything other than a key - even my 1969 6 cyl 109.

    Disco 2 2004 Dead! Electrical

Thanks for your comments I don’t have the old starter as there was a refund of £33 for it, so can’t try what you suggest. My only slight concern with the ‘button start switch’ that I’ve installed is that it’s very easy to hold too long and cause a ‘squeal’ - but probably just a matter of getting...

    Disco 2 2004 Dead! Electrical

Update! After much head scratching and talking to people I decided to check the starter motor, my word that was a pig to remove! Once it was off I checked it and sure enough it wasn’t working. So £112 later and I was the owner of a replacement starter motor. The top nut was a right pain to...

Thanks for your reply. I’m now beginning to think it might be starter motor related. Electrical burning smell seems to be coming from that direction.

    Disco 2 2004 Dead! Electrical

Ok, can’t be 100% certain of actual facts as my wife was driving and the details are as she described them! But here goes: As she was about to leave for home, (a 15 mile journey), she tried to wash windscreen but neither wipers nor washers would work! So started journey and after about 10 miles...

    L322 2004 V8 abs ecu unrepairable

I keep saying “that’s it, I’ve had enough!” - then when it’s fine I forget the problems (and costs). :)

    L322 2004 V8 abs ecu unrepairable

Absolutely! Now that I’ve spent probably more than it’s worth, (not my intention), at least if it’s working ok I can now keep it for a while.

    L322 2004 V8 abs ecu unrepairable

So I’ve replaced just the ecu and immediately I wasn’t getting the usual temp gauge shooting up to max. I then tried clearing faults with my gap iid but was still getting the ‘3 amigos’. One of the faults was coming up ‘steering angle calibration’ so I found that I could reset that with the iid...

    L322 2004 V8 abs ecu unrepairable

It’s arrived, (ecu, modulator, pump), should I fit all 3 or just the ecu? And can I do it and then take to garage. It’s off a 2002 4.4V8.

    Do you know how?

L322 do I need to re-code 2nd hand abs ecu SORTED!

I’m about to fit a 2nd hand abs ecu modulator to my 2004 V8. Can anyone tell me how (or point me to a post) I can re-flash/code it to my own vehicle using my iid bt (if that’s what I need to do).

Thanks for this, I’ve gone for the punt. Should arrive end of week, this is it’s last chance! I’ve run out of money

But at least they returned the original cost of repair without me asking, inc postage. So it hasn’t cost me a penny for the abs ecu.

They have actually been very fair and because they’re unable to get parts to repair are even refunding the original cost of 1st repair. Yes the ‘knee jerk reaction’ is to give up, but I like your reasoning and maybe I will bide my time as you suggest, (and just turn a deaf ear to swmbo...
