Thank you Miktdish,
Turns out I made an error in my haste this morning. The wire that is fried is actually the earth wire.
Now, I thought about it for a while and wondered why the rest of my auxiliary bits didn't fry but my stereo did, and I...
Hi Mikdish,
Basically, I went to get in it this morning and realised that I left the sidelights on and the battery had drained- for some reason I decided to hold the key before it cranked and that's when the smoke started bellowing from the...
Hi the wolf,
This is where the confusion is- there was no chafing... The cable is far away from anything that it can arc on to- and it only sizzled the wire when I held the key in-between ignition and crank.
Thanks guys,
The engine is a 200tdi, with glow plugs (and now that you've said it, it's definitely the glow plugs drawing power not the starter!)...
The new fuseboard was set up to incorporate a diesel heater, stereo and any other future...
Good morning all,
Slightly concerning, but when I went to start the old girl this morning (held the key in between ignition and start) I heard crackling and a ploom of smoke come from the back of my stereo- fortunately I was able to rip it out...
Good afternoon all.
I have been looking online at what's best to seal a transfer box and it seems a bit grey. Some suggest using 'paper' gaskets, some suggest paper gaskets and silicone, others just say silicone...
I have two different LT230s...
I bought a second hand one from this forum as it was already has Discovery td5 installed it worked perfect, and I have the option to add more packs if I ever need them,
Hi all, I appreciate all the help!
I did as suggested above, took the cable off of the binnacle gauge, the square stem wasn't spinning.
I took the cable off at the transmission end and refitted, I used some long nose pliers and a torch to seat...
The nanocom is the game between models but you buy different unlock codes. You can buy a second hand one, transfer ownership then buy the codes you need from the online store. You also need to make sure you have the right colour cable for your car
So in essence, you buy a nanocom then buy the codes for specific vehicles? for instance I'd need to purchase a Discovery 2 TD5 pack?
Would that include full access coding?
Thanks Kermit
I've just taken her for a spin, I can confirm after taking the cable out of the cluster the little spindle isn't spinning.
Doriz, when you say plastic insert what would that be? Is it a seperate part from the cable?
Thank you!
Oh dear, I spent too long wondering why it wouldn't work rather than actually looking at the problem... Yes that is of course a very good idea lol, I will try that first!!
Thank you!
Good afternoon all,
I have had enough of paying a fortune to find and reset faults on the old girl- it's costing me far too much money when I can fix problems in my spare time.
So I have the typical 3 amigos, I have an ABS warning light and...
Hello Dennis,
This unit has been mentioned a few times on here, if you search for it you will see what people think.
My personal feeling is that the best thing you can do , is find someone with a nanocom or Hawkeye and bribe them with cake.
Cheers
Good afternoon all,
I replaced my speedo cable after it suddenly stopped working, the cable was old and battered so I assumed that it had simply seen it's day,
But the speedo still isn't working, I have bolted to the transfer case and it's all...
Good evening all,
I have just acquired a second hand LT230 transfer box G suffix.
I plan to swap out mine which has a very loud bearing whine. Whilst the one I'm looking to put in seems in good condition running gear wise and no play in...
Take the round back plate off(by the handbrake) remove the gear. As splines may be worn & holding it on…
Or some one has put a nut on the end of the shaft for fun
Good afternoon all,
I have taken all the bolts out of the lt230 in the below picture, but she just won't budge. I can see that it's free, when I move the box up and down it's got a small amount of separation.
Am I missing something here, is...
