Series 3 parabolic or leaf replacement

Thanks. I’ve got Std Armstrong’s all around. Did you notice a better ride with LWB shocks on front. I know it’s not going to be smooth, just benchmarking from a previous series 3 which I think drove great. One had pro gas shocks but it I think the issue with the current one is the mix of...

Series 3 parabolic or leaf replacement

Thank you. I think I’ll go for standard leaf all around. They will probably be better if towing a trailer at any point.

Series 3 parabolic or leaf replacement

Hi all, looking for some advice on leaf springs. My series 3 Swb truck cab came with parabolic springs on the front and leaf on the rear. It doesn’t drive as ‘smooth’ as my previous series. More like a seesaw. The question is “should I put a set of parabolic springs on the rear or go for leaf...

    Distributor spares help North Wales

I think I’ll parts kit the current distributor and then remove it as a spare under the seat. I think I’ll get a complete elec distributor and coil to fit. Do you have any recommendations. I see they vary from £60 to £250. Is it a case of you get what you pay for?

    Distributor spares help North Wales

Hi, I cleaned the cap and rotor and set off. I had an unplanned hard shoulder stop on the A55. Another clean and replace and it started again. I got off and took the slow roads home. After another half a dozen stops and starts I made it home eventually. I’ll always make sure I have a full kit of...

Series 3 distributor spares help - North Wales

Thank you guys. I set off after cleaning the contacts and spraying with electrical switch cleaner. It stopped on the hard shoulder of the A55 (scary) but went again after removing the dizzy cap cleaning and replacing. I pulled off and went on the old coast road. Approximately 10-12 unplanned...

    Distributor spares help North Wales

Thanks goonarmy. I’ve just cleaned the cap and rotor, sprayed with electrical switch cleaner. It ran nice and smooth. I’m feeling a bit vulnerable without spares and the run back. The points don’t look like they have much meat left on them. School boy error.

Series 3 distributor spares help - North Wales

I am currently in Abersoch on the Llyn peninsula and I think I may have the early signs of distributor issues. I will be driving 120miles back to Cuddington on Sunday. I have just checked my spares kit under the seat and my points and condenser are not with me. Would anyone know where I could...

Series 3 Project - Starting at last

I took it to Clwyd Auto Electrics, they get great reviews. The Landy has been stood for a year and started approx 4 times. (It turned over really slow but always fired) The last attempt gave a click, I changed the battery as I had been charging it throughout the year. I took the starter off...

Series 3 Project - Starting at last

Good advice, the brakes are the no 1 priority. No point having what you think is a good starting vehicle if you put it in a wall on its first outing.

Series 3 Project - Starting at last

Hi Steve, just looking through your thread, you have done an amazing job pal. I’ve not finished reading it all yet but I like what I see so far. Really looking forward to having a poke about under mine. Hopefully tomorrow. It looks in good solid shape but I need to get to all the nooks to be...

Series 3 Project - Starting at last

Thank you all for your replies, good advice and reference material. I plan to keep the paint and life scars on the body as is. I might have the wheels blasted and powder coated in limestone. The only thing I have done so far is change the engine oil and charged the battery to move it to the...
