Freelander 1 HDC Warning Light needs resetting

Couple of weeks ago, had my Freelander 1 TD4 back in the garage after a clutch change as the HDC warning light had come on whilst I was crawling in traffic. It was checked by the diagnostic and all was ok, the warning light just needed resetting. They unplugged it and re-plugged it in and all...

    Travelling to France

I do about 3 trips a year but I live in Normandy and use the ferry Portsmouth to Caen so cannot give you the best route. I would suspect you would go via Calais (strikes permitting) travelling down the eastern side of France.

    Another rear door fault.

Found the fault, stripped away the side wall trim to follow the wiring harness and found two hidden relays, one for the rear wiper and one for the tailgate window. Swapped relays and the window works perfectly. New relay on order. Thanks for all those that offered suggestions they were a great...

    Travelling to France

Seems I'll be the first to post here. I live in Lower Normandy outside the town of Domfront. Currently in the UK until about the second week in August if you want anything bringing back.

    Another rear door fault.

Had a diagnostic done yesterday. Seems that the control unit thinks the tailgate window is up even though it is down. Door lock and wiper motor reported working as they should. Bought a new window mechanism and motor, installed but as soon as the ignition was switched on, the window dropped...

    Another rear door fault.

Well, tried the recalibration procedure as suggested by B34R. When I reconnected the battery, the window went down as expected, and that's where it stayed. The window would not even go up when the key is used in the tailgate door lock. Did the recalibration 3 times but still the window would not...

    Another rear door fault.

Thanks, will try that later this evening.

    Another rear door fault.

Happened again this morning, opened the back door to put a bag in, when I closed the door, the window lowered itself again and stayed down. Drove into town with the back window open. After about 3 km and continually pressing the up and down switch the window finally raised.

    Another rear door fault.

Recalibration seems to have fixed it, thanks to all for the input.

    Another rear door fault.

Comes back up eventually after about 5-10 minutes. Only seems to happen first thing in the morning. As I am not a morning person, maybe I have got a not a morning Freelander :)

    Another rear door fault.

No, a five door 2002 TD4 GS. I will do the recalibration tomorrow as suggested.

    Another rear door fault.

Battery has been in a few weeks but I will follow your advice and see if it sorts it out.

    Another rear door fault.

When I open the rear door first thing in the morning, the glass drops the required amount and I open the door. When I close the back door again, the glass lowers. I start the engine and have to drive off pressing both up and down intermittently on the dash switch. After about 5 minutes, the...

    Hi to all

After searching the web, decided to register here as it seems to have the best up-to-date advice and great banter. Couple of weeks a go, I bought my first Freelander a 2002 TD4 and it is running great with only a couple of niggles with the windows. It is RHD but French registered. Looking...
