Leaked, new Britpart front calipers seals and pistons. defender 90 with 46mm pistons.

These parts were seals and pistons fitted to original Lockheed calipers.

Leaked, new Britpart front calipers seals and pistons. defender 90 with 46mm pistons.

Hi All I just fitted the above. Three of the four seals on one side leaked ( badly). The leaks popped the dust shield covers off! I replaced them with Bearmach seals, which felt tighter against the pistons (same pistons as supplied by Britpart), and these are fine, no leaks. Anyone else had or...

300TDI hard to start after standing for a few days whilst not much fuel in tank

Sorted. Changed the lift pump to a Delphi and now no problem. She starts easily with low fuel level, even after standing for a week or so. Previous pump was a piece of unbranded junk!

Classic 89 Range Rover heater box

Hi All So, 'Im refurbishing the heater box in my 89 Range Rover. New core, foam seals etc. Ive noticed that one of the control linkage rods is loose where it joins onto the flap. Just seems to be a friction fit with splines onto the flap. Are these really just a tight push fit?

Yes, I guessed that could be the case. Any recommendations on a good brand?

300TDI hard to start after standing for a few days whilst not much fuel in tank

Hi all The issue mentioned above is due to fuel draining back to the tank. The spill line is airtight. Could this likely be caused by leaking NRV in the lift pump? Its an after market pump. Thanks for any help.

    I think I've an air leak! 300tdi

Could be, but it turns over quite fast. Even after a few days it always briefly fires, but unless it catches straight away it takes a lot of cranking. When the tank is full it always starts first kick.

    I think I've an air leak! 300tdi

Thanks guys. If the air is getting in on the return side, providing the lift pump NRV is working should this cause a problem? I've seen those spill pipes. They're made of a cloth material and just pushed on. Should they be clipped on?

    I think I've an air leak! 300tdi

Hi All So, when the fuel tank is half empty or less and the vehicle has stood around for a few days, starting can be troublesome. If the engine doesn't start immediately, it takes a lot of turning to fire it into life. I'm think there's an air leak in the fuel line, which is causing fuel to run...

    89 3.5 V8 throttle position sensor

I've ended up adapting one using a Colvern CP 17 pot. These pots have the correct rotational angle, resistance values and fixing position. Just needed to make a shaft that connects the pot to throttle plate. Much more modern technology than the original, and affordable.

    89 3.5 V8 throttle position sensor

So, after a week of searching it seems the whole planet doesn't have a TPS that fits straight onto this engine at a reasonable price. There are kits for TVR's that arent quite correct and someone is trying to sell a second hand original for nearly 500 quid, so its time to adapt a modern TPS to...

    89 3.5 V8 throttle position sensor

Hi All Has anyone found a neat alternative to the TPS (ETC 5598). It seems to be an obsolete item. A few companies are offering an ETC 6443, but at silly money, and this part number refers to a Canada Mexico spec engine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Central locking actuator for rear window (89 Range Rover)

Hi All The above seems obsolete, so time to try a repair. Its a plastic sealed unit with a seam down the middle. Has anyone successfully dismantled one of these? If so, how? Thanks for any help.
