Picked up a new 4.6 for parts and possibly block.
Front cover is identical and undamaged, oil pump is also intact and looking great. Just need to fit my oil filter angled adapter on and will be golden.
Anywhere you have the ally next to steel you get the oxidation. If you reskin the doors, cover the steel frame with Harry Black Maskers, or gaffer tape first.
Here's a link to the new shock mounts ...

Thanks, yes I would agree. There's something about that County livery that's very evocative of that age. Plus this appears to have been one of the Queen's Land Rovers - first registered to her transport manager at Windsor Castle no less! :p
You're too late! I've done a deal myself for £7,350. And a big thanks to the guys who suggested it would polish up with some T-Cut because it does! The previous owner never, ever washed it so it got badly oxidized, but it scrubs-up nicely with...
If that is your only issue with a 20 year plus truck you are very lucky.
Only a thorough clean up will disclose the exact cause of the leak. Also I think the oil has a red hue which says main box oil. Anyway it will be basic fix of gasket or...
Finally got everything together for swapping the Transfer box. Just need to wait on my knee getting better, so far, not so good. As mine was a working Landy all the wheelarches are damaged somewhere or other, now it's in a more genteel semi...
Started on the least favorite job, getting the dash back together ! Oh and ordered a set of black billet aluminum door hinges from exmoor trim, saw them in the Newak show and they looked well made and with show discount relatively cheap in...
I attended my local meet last night, only a few miles from home. Some other owners had travelled an hour or more to attend. It was a nice relaxed meet up with a variety of land rovers.
I am going to say a few things.
Stop looking at pretty, of course most sale ads like to show you pretty.
Wanna buy this:D.
Has manual AC but rust free.
No scratches (to be seen;)).
I may have said it, dont get sucked in by pretty, I guess at...
This stuff. I got it at The Spray Store in Motherwell. They recommended 2.5ltrs for the 90 at a 2:1 mix with standard thinners for spraying. £70 inc the vat.
Done the front propshaft UJs and refitted it then sealed a leak (hopefully) on the transfer box. Discovered that my rear prop now needs the UJs doing but that's a tomorrow job and with that off it'll let me sort out that diff flange leak as well.
The shuttle vavle came off and is now in bits, being cleaned up for reassembly.
The plastic switch seems to be fouling the shuttle valve itself if fully screwed down. No washer was there so head scratching time for assembly to make it work...
Being a student has quite a significant effect on the viability of buying and running a Landy. Firstly, affordability. Insurance and reliability as mentioned, and fuel and general running costs. Also, consider the theft risk. They do get stolen...
Agree with the above, it may well have seating for four in the back but only if those seated on one side have legs.
If you are a youngster I would strongly suggest an insurance quote would be wise, infact regardless of age get a qoute first.
