Pre-Installing an inverter/charger on a plyboard with large Anderson connectors and all cabling in such way that is quickly separable.
Due to Dutch tax-laws the canopy must be easy seperable and removable in 1 motion.
First photo is the pre...
Well that’s 6 weeks to get the other list of parts needed. & the other 1 stripped.
You don’t want to be finding you need parts & have to wait during the build.
Happy spannering then. It does make a difference for a few years not having to worry about things with a rebuilt motor.
I put the chassis under mine about 1995 as the chassis was shot when I bought it.
Now has a galv bulkhead.
Yeahh, thats what I am rapidly beginning to think tbh... I could probably repair this one but really, its 35 years old on a vehicle I already admit I will keep forever and I have the galvanised bulkhead ready.
Yes have space and managed a bonus...
So for welding & make your life easier
Take rear tub off.
Take doors & bulkhead/wings off
Carry on doing the above & your 1/2 way to a chassis swap.
You know you will be chasing rust on the old chassis.
Have you got space to change the...
Righty,
I am still 50/50 on whether to do the full chassis swap now the more I ponder it..... I have taken it out of the shed and jetwashed the fvck out of the chassis inside and out... something I probably should have done before tbh. But hence...
Sump off cleaned, primed sanded and painted. Water pump looks and spins as new so cleaned it up along with the timing case and rocker cover, oh how I do like a bit of bling
Lazy day in the office, despite being pebble dashed in old engine oil, oh ye! Forgot that I hadn’t drained the oil out of the engine before taking the flipping sump off. Despise knocking the sump with the 13mm socket before starting it bloody...
I saw this one currnertly on eBay which is more my price point: LINK. But need to persuade the wife that unborn child number two needs a Land Rover like I did for unborn child number one. She is currently very unhappy about the idea and thinks...
Rear hubs back on with some drilled and grooved discs, had to order some different caliper bolts as they arent the same as the front 😖 the early def had 7/16 unf bolts unlike the m12 fine front ! Have to pause the front hubs as I need to order...
Also on the perished hoses... I still have hard lines running down the chassis but I know some of the rubber hoses need replacing, to be fair maybe the tank does too as theres a good amount of debris caught in the filter. It could be a case of...
The internal bar doesnt really get in the way, if you have standads seats. Its rather annoying with Corbeaus/bucket seats.
As for fitting doesnt take much longer to add the internal bar and obviously considerably stronger.
Chat to SD if you get...
Depending on how good you are with a welder… get a kit form & build yourself.
Now there are 2 ways. Front hoop across the front screen or up from footwell/bulkhead outrigger going rearward to the hoop behind the seats.then weld a straight tube...
Big day yesterday as Izzy's body came off. Couple of neigbours and the lady of the house press ganged into helping did the job:
A pressure wash shifted the dirt and revealed the good bits and horrors in equal measure. The fuel tank has surface...
The 2.5 petrol is a great engine when it runs well. Would it be worth sending it for a total rebuild with new gaskets throughout? The rebuild kit if I remember correctly doesn’t include everything but rather the floats, gaskets to separate the...
Could have picked a better day than the hottest day of the year but hey ho 🤣
Replaced the wiper boxes, what a pig of a job!
Drivers side was actually fine, passenger side SEIZED SOLID couldnt even move it with some 12" stilsons.. 🫥
Replaced...
Well the 2000 piece jig saw begins! First off I decided to spray the chassis and axles again but this time with a semi gloss 2k Selamix paint, the jotun paint was good but did start to look a bit chalky. Now dry and the trusty spray booth...
