Well thats it folks !!!! Painting finished, well Im all for not wasting and certainly hope that I dont find anything that I haven’t painted as Ive only got a jam pot of paint left over from 5lts just enough for the odd stone chip touch up 😂
Correct. 4psi is the max pressure the pump can make against a dead head. It ticks away for a few seconds just before starting the engine then stops. I never hear it when the engines running. Makes bleeding the fuel system a doddle too. I fit 1/8"...
I had similar issues with my 2.5 petrol, which was fitted to my series 3. It came from a 1986 90. It ran fine for several years until I had similar symptoms, which got worse, causing very poor running and stalling when idling. I rebuilt the carb...
I went for the cheap option, only about £300! I got one of those chinese made Static arc MIGs and bit the bullet and got a proper gas bottle to go with as I knew I needed to go gas really. But it totally paid for itself just for this one job so...
Oh no! Mine had a couple of small bits in the same places, seems like a common place to start rusting through.
For me it went from investigating why there was a circular plate screwed onto the crossmember, to cutting some holes, buying a new...
Carefully inspect the rear chassis legs all the way up to where the trailing arms attach to the chassis before making a decision. Use a pointy thing as part of your decision making.
I repaired the same area on my son's Ninety a couple of years...
Don't regret, embrace, don't curl up at night and think 'whats next ' ... think 'Yay, what's next ? :D more tool buying oppertunities and learning experiences' ....
It is what it is.
Well todays the day that I’ve been waiting 6mths for …. Its painting time …. Few minor adjustments with the mixing ratio and Ive got the hang of this Selamix 5-1-20%
Spray booth started to take shape, slight upgrade from the mk1 with a forced inward air fan with filter duct. Hopefully this should provide a positive air pressure to avoid any chances of dust ingress. Collected 5lts of PPG selemix today so...
Progress so far...
Air box etc out of the way.
Upper intake manifold off.
Lower intake manifold, coil packs, fan, belts, pulleys, coolant hoses and rocker covers etc.
Heads off.
The problem cylinder, all liners look and feel ok for...
Whoever designed the heater box certainly took an interesting route. Or some drugs. One or the other as its ended up complex and both rivetted and spot welded along the same joints.
Its consumed 12 hours of my life I reckon. There is the one way...
Been a bit slow progress of late as I’ve been on holiday. Been desperate to make some decent progress, so ploughed on with the other rear side windows. Got all the lower and upper channels fitted, windows cleaned of old overspray and gunk and...
So today I've finished off changing my trailing arm bushes, got one done yesterday and did the other today, so that's the pair done and cleaned up/painted. I only had to cut one bolt as well so that's a win, some kind previous owner put copper...
Very nice! 😎. That would make a great rolling project, not that much needs doing. I’d be in some turouble if I bought another though!🙄. Good luck with the sale, it’s a great looking Landy.
For Sale: 1992 (J Reg) Factory V8 CSW.
I've owned this for approx 10 years, but times have changed and it needs to find a new owner. It's a bit tatty, rough around the edges but has never let me down :)
Factory v8 CSW in Metallic Red (don't...
Nothing like learning on the job, so to speak. A decent selection of tools, some workshop manuals and you tube are very useful.lots of good help and advice on here too.
I would not expect resealing to be part of a respray, and also not part of a re-chassis. it is a separate job that would have needed to be specified. I filled my gutters with white tiger seal to reduce the leaks. It is up to you if you dig out...
Well……I found the rattle. It was a strange noise, more like two pieces of sheet metal contacting each other rather than a heavy clatter.
Anyway….the rattle came from the n/s front. By sheer luck I noticed that the shock absorber had no threads...
Painted up the light housings because I couldn’t bear to put them back in like that. Will order some new plastic ones as I’ve had to punch a big hole through them for the wiring relay.
Replaced 3x leak off pipes which were also very much past...
