Are the Serial Numbers on the transmission/engine the VIN?

Looks like they're stuck on from the backside and held on by the wheel. They're definitely not manual hubs.

Are the Serial Numbers on the transmission/engine the VIN?

Got it last night. Have a big laundry list of things to get working on but I love this thing. To put it in perspective... I have a 700hp 911 turbo in the garage and this truck is without a doubt my favorite of the two. I'll make a new thread and update how I get on with it.

Cool, thanks guys. Sent the wire for the rig and shipping today. If the stars align I should have it in my hands in about 4 weeks. Here's a pic of it if anyone cares:

Are the Serial Numbers on the transmission/engine the VIN?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, a 1986 Defender 110 pickup. I've seen how to decode the vins, and I know where all the numbers to find are on the truck... my question is should the serial number on the transmission and engine be the actual VIN number of the chassis? Thanks. -Mag

Are the Serial Numbers on the transmission/engine the VIN?

Hi Guys. Trying to import a D110 pickup and had a question about the serial numbers that are supposed to be original to the truck. Will they just be the same VIN as on the chassis? Or is it a different number that I'll have to contact Land Rover to figure out what they are supposed to be...

    I'm buying a D110 pickup!

Hi Guys- Grew up wrenching on Jeeps but always lusted for a Defender. Drove my friends D90 pickup last week, fell in love, and finally got up enough nerve to import one here to the states. Here's what I'm getting... 1986 D110 pickup, one owner, looks halfway decent, NA diesel. Working on...

    New to Defenders...

Hi guys. Been a jeeper all my adult life but lusted over a Defender the whole time. Looks like I'm finally about to get one... hopefully a 86' D110 pickup. Looking forward to turning some wrenches on the new Rover. -Mag
