    Possible electrical fault

Have you checked the red ECU plug for oil? Everything can be connected in a TD5! ;-)

    Bulkhead Welding

True that. It was actually a specific course for creating and welding body parts for cars. We built a little car door. I should know something about welding by now :-D

    Bulkhead Welding

Did a four-day welding course myself and decided to better keep practising a bit more before I actually apply my new craft to my beautiful Defender! :D

    Bulkhead Welding

Photos would be helpful, maybe it's not even necessary to weld! Does it have holes? Have you checked the rest of the bulkhead, i.e. footwells from the inside and from engine bay and floor panels? Generally you'd have to remove the windscreen frame and dash, grind down to bare metal und cut...

TD5 petrol conversion - how feasible?

I got those numbers from Defenders with those engnines. I agree that you won't receive the same fuel efficiency as a BMW 528i In our driving boxes though. ;-)

TD5 petrol conversion - how feasible?

The numbers I've found so far were 10 to 15 litres/100km for the BMW engine and 15 to 25 L/100km for the 1UZ-FE. Doesn't it make sense that a V6 2.8 engine is more fuel-efficient than a V8 4.0. Sure there might be variations in configuration, tuning etc. but in general?

TD5 petrol conversion - how feasible?

I've found some videos of BMW M52 Defenders, with a 2.8 six-cylinder petrol engine. That sounds a lot more appealing to me! Apparently there are conversion kiits available: https://m.facebook.com/groups/144267379068375?view=permalink&id=479883248840118 Does anyone know of any companies in...

TD5 petrol conversion - how feasible?

I've looked around a bit. The sound is amazing and it seems to do really well off-road. But fuel consumption is so high, I'd say it's not the right engine for an overlander. Unless you're towing a fuel trailer. ;-)

TD5 petrol conversion - how feasible?

Hey comrades! The diesel situation seems to be getting worse every day. I live in Germany but I use my defender as a pure travel vehicle. Here in Germany it's already impossible to enter the city centres with an unmodified TD5 (mods will cost you 2,500 GBP). And currently they are releasing...

Opinions needed - Looking at 2 Defender TD5's This Weekend

Wow, I didn't think it made that much of a difference! My 110 is Caledonian blue but my roof is white and it was always much cooler inside than in "modern" cars.

I assume this is a joke. :-D Defenders got vents. That's the aircon!

Opinions needed - Looking at 2 Defender TD5's This Weekend

Okay, let's talk about the obvious: 18.000 is a ridiculously low mileage. But possible of course. Since there ist no mot or service history, however, it's very hard to verify the mileage. AND of course it's hard to impossible to verify how it has been serviced. Vehicle 2 shows a pretty low...

    Defender 110 rear floor crossmember

I need do mine as well in the near future. Got the slide-in version from YRM's. I asked them how to fit it and came out with this plan: 1. Remove the triangular side-panels behind second-row doors. 2. Remove the fuel lines from the filter and put them out of the way 3. Undo bolts, then cut out...
