There should also be a threaded hole to screw a bolt in to push the drum off. Can't remember the size.

I checked the voltage drop with respect to the battery negative terminal. As I turned on the heater fan, lights etc. I saw increasing voltage drop. Voltage drops

My battery condition indicator [aka voltmeter] started playing up, so I followed a couple of good tips from the forum. 1. attach a lead to the battery negative terminal and measure the voltage at the negative and positive terminals of the voltmeter, then vary the load - fan and headlights. 2...

    200tdi starter

I noticed Buster's photos show an earth connection to the starter body. Is that normal on a 200TDi? Mine doesn't have it. Second question - the parts manual shows a heatshield for the 200TDi starter but my Defender doesn't have one fitted; is that important? Thanks.

found a hole in the chassis !!!!

Had the same problem on my 92 110. The inner C-section was perfect, but the outer was very bad. Plated it up by welding to the good section. A bit fiddly but worked great. Made paper templates and then cut/ground new plate to fit.

    Cause of scary incident

I drove it very gingerly a few miles. I coasted down a local hill with the engine off so I could hear the squeaking noise, then over to my mechanic's shop. Nerve wracking! JonM

    Cause of scary incident

Matty, The company that refurbished the 110 seem to be trying to duck the issue. I just got this reponse: "the bearing broke and you continued to drive it without knowing this and the bearing gets so hot that the grease would literally evaporate." I don't think my mechanic can help as we are...

    Cause of scary incident

My mechanic found the cause of the seizing/skidding incident that I posted recently. One of the offside front wheel bearings had completely disintegrated, it fell out onto the floor! Two rollers have gouges halfway through. Neither bearing showed any sign of grease - he reckons they were...
