3.5 hours at £45/hour. They are independent Land Rover specialists though so not just your normal garage. Very good guys and good service.

The Disco went for the MOT yesterday. It passed but with advisories on the brake lines corroding and slight play in the rear wheel bearings. All good really as I knew about the brake lines already.
Whilst there I also got an oil and filter change done and asked them to replace a core plug, do...

Ended up getting the core plug replaced at the garage that was doing the MOT for me due to time constraints and the fear of it going wrong. Whilst he had the engine lifted a little he noticed another plug was starting to leak so replaced that as well.

Sweeeet :D Cheers dude :D

Good thinking on running the car up warm first. I suppose I just thought "I dont want to be going near it when its hot" but I guess this will help with the stuck nut. Will give that a try. Cheers.
Fair point about the middle box being out of the way and giving me more access.

That's the sort of thing I thought they were. Drilling it out could be easier said than done with it on the car. Don't want to take the headers / cat section off as well. It is only the lower nut that seems stuck so I was going to angle grind the bolt between the two flanges where the bolt is...

Went to go trial fit the new mid and end sections. It seems that with the new mid pipe and end section the joints are in different places to my current system so need to take it all off in one go from the section containing the cats, all the way to the back.
Had a problem with the bolts...

Just spoke with the garage who will be doing the MOT for me next week and they said they don't see that it will be a problem providing the emissions are still met. Lets crack out the tools :D

But surely that would mean ANY vehicle with a loud / aftermarket exhaust would fail.
I reckon I am best just giving the MOT test station a ring to see what they say.

Managed to pick myself up a new straight through mid pipe and new back box section for the 3.9 Disco. Just now trying to decide whether to just fit the straight through pipe and back box section as it is, or whether I really should chop the mid pipe and stick a Cherry Bomb in there. What d'ya...

Managed to get the old bolt heads cut off with the angle grinder, and got a new mount fitted up. The left top bolt was a bit awkward to get to with the disc but with a bit of jiggery-pokery I got it chopped off.
Once I finished off the installation of the new Terrafirma shocks and HD springs, I...

Great "How To" guide with those photos. Got the clock out straight away. Cheers stretchie.

Is it pretty much a straight swap or do I need some other bits of pipe and bends and stuff to make it fit?
-
That's great and I fully agree that probably it is better, but its what; about £300 for a system like that, minimum? But probably only going to cost £50 to fit a cherry bomb and a pipe and just get a better V8 note from it.
Its a bit like saying; well thats why some just buy a brand new...

Thanks for that. So the concept is remove the back box, install cherry bomb somewhere after the mid box, then straight pipe out to the back of the car? Does it matter how near or far the cherry bomb is from the mid box and how much straight pipe you have after the cherry bomb?
