i have been having the same faults with my range rover dse for about 3 months, it only seemed to start after the water pump went...its really anoying as the engine isnt hot when the gauge is round to the red or the viscous fan would be spinning right up...to try and rectify the problem i have...

has anyone ever experienced excessive stalling and intermittent loss of power when driving? ive been having it a bit for the last week now, it seems to be low on power, drinking diesel like a tramp drinks white lightning its not using water though, well it needed a drop last week but nothing...

expansion tank cap? is that the same thing?

this is what happened to mine, i was able to locate all the bits for my pump though, it has snpped off te shaft and into 2 pieces so was easy to get it out....

thanks for the help guys, i did test the new stat before i put it in and it was opening quicker then the old one, its also definatly gone back in the way the old one came out so that cant be the problem, i have checked the pip to the heder tank and the nipples its all clear and has good flow...

i never use the auto on the heater anyway. i will give it a try at work tomorow, one thing i have noticed is that the pipe to the right of the rad, which believe is flow from the water pump always appears to be slightly soft in comparison to the other one,dont know if this is normal just sems...

yeah its got 50% anti freeze in it, its been doing this for a month now i done nearly 2000 miles with it doing it, its not used a drop of water, the matrix is working cos i could cook a pig with the heat inside when its on full....its just really really cofused me, ive exhausted every possble...

i was told that the way to get the air out was to clear the pipe from the top of the rad to the expansion tank and it would sort itself from there....it not using any water atall :confused:

right here goes, last month my water pump went which resulted i the rad exploding, so i replaced the rad, water pump, new thermostat, when i got it all back together again and running i noticed that every time i hit a hill the temp gauge went up to the red :eek: so i replaced the viscous fan...

so thats a converted p38? thats amazing... thats 4500 price tag surely dosnt include the wheels or does it?

cheers for that mate, they are pretty cheep arnt they. what would be the likley cause of this? any ideas, air lock? split pipe? whats confusing is that although it spat out a load of water over everything the rad still appears to be full, confused?? i am...

:( just as i turned into work my p38 2.5dse was gutless and i thought mabe it was the injector fault coming up again, so i looked down onto the dash to see the temp in the red, i didnt even get the opportunity to pull off the road before it made the biggest bang you have ever heard and covered...

i got mine through a specalist, both pipes and the rad came to £322 including vat, if yours is the dse, then you should have a cooling rad behind the foglight cover on the passanger side, if its not then im told that they are wedged behind the radat the front, i wouldnt have thought you will...

i paid 13 quid for this on ebay, how ****edam i right now

cheers mate, ivegot to repace all the ipes and d, when i was taking i off i sheared the thread off the rad, grrr, wee bouts is th manual download? i havnt seen that, i bought a cd off ebay bt it dosnt show my model, waste of money but never mind, cheers mate
