Okay thanks I’ll have a look.

I’ve tried the belt but it’s wasn’t that. I’ll give the rest a go.

That’s what I tried first but it didn’t do anything. I’d say the belt is too loose if anything and needs replacing. It’s my dads old one that’s been sitting in a field for years

Hello everyone,
I have a series 2a petrol and everything runs smoothly (touch wood!). However recently there has been a screeching noise from the engine bay as it’s revved. The higher the revs the louder the sound. The oil and belts are fine and nothing rubbing as far as I can tell. I don’t...

Okay that sounds alright. I live in Herefordshire so most my journeys are in lanes where it sounds like it will be perfectly capable. I’ll just have to avoid motorways at all cost

Alright there beginning to sound like a likely upgrade for me. Did it improve the top speed at all?
-
I’ve probably missed something but what made the change.

Mine has the zenith and I wouldn’t mind keeping it origional. How much use would a SU carb be?

Thanks I’ll have a quick look but I’m pretty sure there alright.
-
Alright cheers for all the help.

You make a very good point. If I’m honest I don’t do many long journeys in it and I live in Herefordshire so a lot of the roads are small lanes where it’s perfectly fine. I was just wondering if there were some small tweaks that could give it some more power but it seems not.

Thanks for the advice but I’ve done tappets already and surprisingly they were all right.

I fitted an overdrive a few years ago and that’s been great. As u say it’s perfectly fine around lanes and back roads I was just wondering if there were any ways to give it a little more power for those hills and motorways?
