    Screeching noise from 2.25 petrol

I’ve tried the belt but it’s wasn’t that. I’ll give the rest a go.

    Screeching noise from 2.25 petrol

That’s what I tried first but it didn’t do anything. I’d say the belt is too loose if anything and needs replacing. It’s my dads old one that’s been sitting in a field for years

    Screeching noise from 2.25 petrol

Hello everyone, I have a series 2a petrol and everything runs smoothly (touch wood!). However recently there has been a screeching noise from the engine bay as it’s revved. The higher the revs the louder the sound. The oil and belts are fine and nothing rubbing as far as I can tell. I don’t...

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

Okay that sounds alright. I live in Herefordshire so most my journeys are in lanes where it sounds like it will be perfectly capable. I’ll just have to avoid motorways at all cost

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

You make a very good point. If I’m honest I don’t do many long journeys in it and I live in Herefordshire so a lot of the roads are small lanes where it’s perfectly fine. I was just wondering if there were some small tweaks that could give it some more power but it seems not.

Thanks for the advice but I’ve done tappets already and surprisingly they were all right.

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

I fitted an overdrive a few years ago and that’s been great. As u say it’s perfectly fine around lanes and back roads I was just wondering if there were any ways to give it a little more power for those hills and motorways?

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

Its my dads old one been sitting in a field for years. Probably safe to say the cylinder head hasn’t been off for a while. I think I will look into upgrading to an SU carb. Its been recommended a lot and seems to be within my skill set.

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

Yeah I’ve seen these before. Always looked promising but a little pricey for me at the minute.

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

Sorry I should have said at the start. It’s a 2.25 petrol. I think I’ll keep an electronic start in my mind but the engine starts and runs fine at the moment. I might try an SU carb as they have been recommmended to me before. Seeing as I’m not exactly a dab hand when it comes to carbs either...

    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

Hi all I have a 1962 series 2a and it all runs smoothly ( touch wood). The only problem is that being an old Land Rover it’s a bit low on grunt. Is there any ways I can improve the power without a full engine conversion. Maybe a straight through exhaust? Any help would be great.
