Problem solved and testament to my inexperience first level unlock doesn’t let the tailgate switch to work except, if it is already open. Swapping out the switch works perfectly. Thanks for your help.

Hi I’m the proud owner of a 10 year old Freelander 2. It’s in unmodified. Apart from replacing the batteries in the keys, what do you suggest I improve first? It’s an S LE TD4e. Much appreciation goes to you.
