    I have the old loom which I have torn out. I can untape it and try to work out where the wires run to. This is Indonesia, everything is very unusual.:rolleyes: I think maybe the last alternator was wired in without removing the external regulator, or maybe because the internal one had failed...

    I'm sure you're right CharlesY. I guess I could just wire it up as per the current set up but remove the external regulator and see what happens. As long as I monitor the charge voltage on startup it shouldn't cause any problems. Just have to shut it down and wire in the reg if it goes to high...

    Tried that but they're more into nitrous and car audio so not real up on stuff like this. I,m sure its a pretty standard setup as the Lucas alternator that was on before had the same connector. I was hoping an auto elec would know as they don't exist in Indonesia (auto elecs).
