Thanks all for your advice. Unfortunately we ended up with head gasket failure. The job cost 2000 euro in the end ( about £1350) and the job was first class. I ended up with a engineering works doing the complete job, and if anybody in Ireland needs this job done on a V6 or any other model...

Coolant is very clean... no mayo. Oil looks good as well.. but could have been changed as I only have it one month..private sale. Jasper

Hi All, I'm loosing 1Litre of coolant per 150 miles ( abour 1 weeks mileage). I have not replaced the original bottle or cap yet. Could a dickie bottle or cap loose that much coolant, and If I replace the coolant eack week for the moment am I safe... well as safe as can be in a FuXXXX Freebe...

Hi Gang, I reckon my 2.5 V petrol Freebe is loosing an expansion bottle of coolant a week and I cannot see any leaks anywhere. System gets up to pressure and temp in 10 mins and the coolant is very clean...no mayo and no foam. No problem with cabin heat. Any idea's. Jasper

What should I look out for as first signs of HGF in V6. I have an airlock in the coolant at the moment and a suggested cure which I will try tomorrow. Anything else that starts to give a warning ? Jasper :rolleyes:

I'm new to this forum but already you guys have saved me a packet, you solved my poor warm starting (cam sensor) and now coolant airlocks. However I now live in fear of HGF. If the 1.8 petrol is a heap of crap how does my 2.5 V6 petrol rate against it ? Jasper:(
