Try RCV (Roberts Country Vehicles) Tel: 01580 890333 or 01622 872875. I purchased a replacement key and fob recently, excellent service.

Sounds like a Lemon. Get rid of it.

Here’s one that works. The only thing that stops a decent socket fitting over the nipple is the aluminum boss surrounding the brake pipe connection. With a small flat metal file slightly larger than a needle file, file some of the ally back until your socket fits (1/4” drive best)...

I now have a similar problem having changed the VCU, replacing the original prop support bearings with cheaper pattern items. Perhaps I should have used GKN items ££? Best of luck

Also try greasing the gear change linkages. There a quite a few from the gear lever to the gearbox.

Cheers Chris. RAVE does seem over the top.

Has any one had the pleasure of changing a Freelander TD4 water pump or just the thermostat housing? Searched this forum with no joy.
Appreciate hydro engine mount needs to be removed, rather than lift engine is it possible to jack from beneath?

I,ve had my Spend Lander for a year and a half and I'm happy with it because I spend hours repairing the *@%* heap!

My head is aching where I've been bashing it against the wall so much. Yes I have a similar problem. Now Ive noticed that it stops when I just lightly (very lightly) touch the clutch pedal. Im going to check all clutch related fixings this weekend and lightly grease the contact points ie pivot...

Cant recall the exact size of sockets used now but carefull heating of the driveshaft nut with a blowtorch made the difference between removal and standing still. Use a good quality socket and power bar on the driveshaft nut as this is tightened to 400Nm! Best of luck.

The Rave disc also referes to removal / losening of the exhust manifold / down pipe. I found this did not need to be touched. As sparkyjohn, removal of front sub frame makes the job much easier and is itself quiet an easy task. Best of luck.

An excellent investment. It'll also save you a few £'s when your VCU / IRD give up! Thats if your into crawling around on cold concrete.

John,
At 79K the Compressor drive belt was severly cracked in numerous places. To change this you need to remove the Auxiliary so I changed this at the same time.
Cheers.

Hi Peter,
I changed both belts a month ago with no problems. As you are aware you need a 24mm ring spanner with a slight offset. I used a Halfords Pro range ring spanner, this has exactly the right angle and shaft length and fits completly over the bolt head. At first it actualy feels as if...

My Spendlander made a loud 'click' on pulling away from reverse just before the IRD failed. Have you check that your VCU hasn't siezed? Might be worth eliminating this possibility. Good luck!
