They never were, technically. My family name is Thomas, it's been in the family since new being used by my grandfather and his father as a recovery truck for their workshop in the village. So getting the sign-writing was just a throwback to them.

Spoke too soon... leak from the rear main seal, I assume. Engine oil from the flywheel housing, only a slow drip so too concerned at the moment. Obviously a new seal went on during the rebuilt, but it wasn't one of those fancy Teflon ones...

The bed floor is an aluminium alloy, so won't really rot due to water.....

Good idea, i did move the radiator with the earth lead just before it started acting up. Dunno much about the box or motor, all parts look pretty factory to me. Havent had any major bits apart yet, but i guess its coming.

Did you test the old horn or the new one? Is there 12v at the connector when you press the horn button?

The lift pump runs off a cam on the cam shaft, nothing to to with belts or idler pully.

Could you have a faulty earth then? As on the bench both cables would be directly on the starter.
