Good point. I always fill until the pump stops itself. If it leaks during a partial fill that might help narrow the search for the leak. I'll try that today.
From a safety and elf perspective, wear some cushioning protective layer on your forehead.
Cos when the diesel drops down into your eyes, your head will flinch up and hit the underbody.
Alternatively, wear eye protection as that will have the...
Find where the crows roost & knock a few branches down. Use long poles if you don’t/can’t use lead.
They may move on if you do this a few times.
Dangle a few CDs on string to see if that moves them on.
Put a broom stick through the arms of a...
They never were, technically. My family name is Thomas, it's been in the family since new being used by my grandfather and his father as a recovery truck for their workshop in the village.
So getting the sign-writing was just a throwback to them.
Spoke too soon... leak from the rear main seal, I assume. Engine oil from the flywheel housing, only a slow drip so too concerned at the moment.
Obviously a new seal went on during the rebuilt, but it wasn't one of those fancy Teflon ones...
Thank you great info. Ive however solved the matter today, by thanks to previous comments(thankyou) by running an extra earth cable from the pole to the block. It must have had poor connection to the frame. Starts like a scared rabbin. )
Thank...
Good idea, i did move the radiator with the earth lead just before it started acting up.
Dunno much about the box or motor, all parts look pretty factory to me. Havent had any major bits apart yet, but i guess its coming.
Ill try running an extra positive cable directly to the starter in the w-e. I had a mouse living in the garage last winter. Didnt know they had copper on the menue. )
Put a jump lead earth direct to the starter. Try that.
Some times the solinoid does not fully engage & give full load . These can be stripped down or replaced.
Starter motor.
Are you using a series box with an adapter plate? Are you...
The point being the engine inherited with the sad old 109 was leaking oil out of every orifice, in fact the engine bay looked like the drilling floor on an oil rig. No wonder there isn’t any sign of rust. Compounded by the fan blowing liquid oil...
The rebuild has started.
HV and LV junction boxes removed
Dumped in a box
I was never happy with the previous design that kinda evolved as I learned more about what I needed.
I had LV components in the HV JB which is an obvious no no, and...
I wouldn't mind so much but the charging timer was only installed a couple of months ago. :(
At least it helps me remember how I installed everything in the first place.
I spent a few hours rebuilding the HV junction box so it's almost complete...
Wow, I really like the blue.
I thought maybe it was to match the engine color or the body color.
I'm really going to think about the finish produce...be traditional or more creative.
Thanks to all
