    300tdi fueling problems

Hi , I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction My defender 90 has started to play up and I suspect some sort of fueling problem. The truck is fine when driving at half revs but when trying to accelerate smartly it seems to hesitate and hunt. It wont top 70 mph now...

Correct Electrikery Values at Temp Gauge

Hi there got a stack unit which comes with sender £49 delivered .It comes with a wiring diagram. All you really need to do is replace the ring connector on the back of the original gauge with a spade connector and cut off the bulb and put two spades on those wires to get the led working . Simples :)

    Green or Black Temperature Sensor

The colours do not really pertain to an engine . They pertain to its relationship with the gauge. Its the gauge and the sender that are the unit not the sender and the engine. I have tried all of the above and the only way to gaurantee a match is to buy a matched pair.

Correct Electrikery Values at Temp Gauge

To be fair it was my mates meter and he set it up before we plugged it in . I know we were measuring resistance and like you said he might have fiddled with the range a bit It deffo started at 0.300 ,300 or 3000 and moved up from there though. I went down the new sender ,new gauge, another new...

Correct Electrikery Values at Temp Gauge

Dont know about volts but I had a meter on my sender last week and it started out at 0.300 ohms ? not sure if that was the right unit of measurement was right but as the engine heated up the value increased so it was doing its thing. I have had serious issues with temp gauge/sender units...

    IR Temperature Sensor

I've recently had to use a laser temp reader for the same thing as you and found that it was most accurate on the cylinder head just behind the thermostat housing. That was comparing it against the gauge mind you which is not a lr one but a 'stack' one. This seems to be accurate though as the...

    Defender 300tdi temp gauge fault?

Fitted new gauge and still overheated . Turned out the new thermostat was not opening and causing it to over heat . I didn't know the water pumps the wrong way from most other cars which caused a lot of stripping down and head scratching before working out what the problem was .Should it be an...

    Defender 300tdi temp gauge fault?

Thanks guys, I've checked the earth to the sender and it hits the red as you described. Its a green sender i fitted thats what was in the old one. I got behind the dash and disconnected the gauge completely and it still read low normal. So i'm thinking its the gauge unless anyone can say...

    Defender 300tdi temp gauge fault?

I have recently had a disaster with my defender and had to replace the engine. As a result of this my temp gauge is reading faulty, I think. When the ignition is off the needle sits at a low normal position. When the lead to the temp sender uint is earthed it returns to the bottom as normal ...

    coolant leak

I have just had quite a lot of work done to my 300tdi defender which included timing belt , new radiator and new full length intercooler. Problem is I've now got a coolant leak. Initially I thought it was the threaded connections to the radiator, which hadn't been tightened properly, but after...
