When the thrust bearing is on its way it sounds like any bearing when it’s breaking down, it grinds, it rumbles, particularly on the clutch thrust bearing when the pedal is depressed the bearing is released and therefore no noise, it only makes noise when it’s spinning.

You have probably stripped them both, socket on nut, large screw driver prizing the nut, think whatever you do now you are going to damage the wheel, column probably damaged anyway.

The classic pivot through the lever, being the sensible chap that I am I thought ah well kill two birds with one stone, shot me self in the foot there.
