    When the thrust bearing is on its way it sounds like any bearing when it’s breaking down, it grinds, it rumbles, particularly on the clutch thrust bearing when the pedal is depressed the bearing is released and therefore no noise, it only makes noise when it’s spinning.

    I have to say I pay around £15 for the front and around £18 for the rear and never had any problem with the cheaper pads. and I have been driving land rovers for 25 years +

    You have probably stripped them both, socket on nut, large screw driver prizing the nut, think whatever you do now you are going to damage the wheel, column probably damaged anyway.
