Intermittent brake squeal AFTER changing discs and pads

Ah, sorry all, I forgot to update this one. I sorted the problem!!! And the culprit was.... ...the pads! I changed them for a completely different brand from EuroCarParts, and the squeal went away. The moral of the story - well buying cheap saved the day (thanks EuroCarPars) so it...

steering - tries to throw me to the kerb

EeEK - yes, yes you did, but you can't blame me for baulking at first :-) Having bought myself a nice shiny balljoint service kit the job turned out to be less than scary - nice and easy to press them out and back in.

Intermittent brake squeal AFTER changing discs and pads

tetsu0san - nope, never have in the past bodge99 - thats why I changed the carrier - all slidey bits are brand new. only the caliper and piston is original. The thing that I can't get my head around is, if its a problem with something touching, being sticky etc, then surely they should...

Intermittent brake squeal AFTER changing discs and pads

As ever, I'm looking for a bit of inspiration around this problem. A few weeks back, I changed the pads and discs on the front of the Freelander. All was good with the world (the fact it went from "are we going to stop?" to "stopped"). Then I got a call from SWMBO saying that there was a...

steering - tries to throw me to the kerb

Quick update. After changing the tie bar and steering link (so that i'd have new track rod ends all round) there was an improvement, but it wasn't the biggie. Then I changed the steering damper - again improvement but not the biggie On saturday I managed to get enough time to do the...

    4.6 misfire help wanted £££

If its any help, i've just done the coil packs, on my 4.6 motronic - started with a misfire on 5, then 5 & 8. Lacking power and generally thinking petty can was the way forward. New coilpacks on, and it goes like stink!

    Nanocom Evolution

Well i'd like to post a big THANKS to you Colin. Got my Nanocom on thursday, got all the details I wanted of the faults, ordered parts, and fixed my mega misfire today. Chuffed doesnt get close :D:D:D Plus i've now got all the other faults to fix, but as i'd only had the P38 for a few weeks...

    Nanocom Evolution

I'm in for this offer :-) Ordered a Lynx this morning, but cancelled that now and sorting out the Nanocom instead - very unimpressed with a number of Lynx resellers now too!!

    T4 Testbook

Did you have any joy with this request? I'm in Chatham and getting to the point where I think i might have to bite the bullet and buy a diagnostic machine as i'm getting more frustrated with the P38 each minute

steering - tries to throw me to the kerb

Thanks all - pretty much what I was expecting Tyres are same all round - Pirelli Scorpions, and the tread measures about the same all round. Its on standard RaRo/Disco rims, so that kind of rules out the issues with stupid sizes. Pressures are similar - after a week now reporting 28ns 29os...

steering - tries to throw me to the kerb

So I bought a p38, and I'm gutted. I shouldve turned around two miles after leaving the sellers house. But I didn't. At any speed, its not that there is play in the steering because I can't feel any, but I clipped a piece of chewing gum in the road and had to quick to catch the change of...

    Oil pressure light

hahahahahah Mucho thanks Sierraferry - my spliced in bit of wire wire was fubar too!! when I tested it, there was a pip and then nothing (rather than the continuous bell of a good circuit). a bit of chopping and changing and I have oil pressure and a light that comes on with ignition, and goes...

    Oil pressure light

Thanks Sierraferry - more likely my misunderstanding :-) so contact to earth light on, switch open light off, so my pulling the cable wouldn't induce light on, it would induce light off. Not exactly a failsafe is it :-) Right, off to check the wires then

    Oil pressure light

@james - there might be two wires, but only the white one has a connector on the sensor end. @sierraferry - no flickering of the light - I was driving, it was on. Now changed sensor, light still on. Repaired wire, light off permanently. Hence the tried disconnecting sensor in the thought...
