    Carn March Arthur

Hello, Anyone done the Carn March Arthur route near Tywyn before? Wanted to know how difficult it is. We did the happy valley route on the otherside today. It was good but looking for something a bit more sedate. Thanks

    V8 Auto Gearbox Oil Cooler

Thanks for the reply, I should have said that it was £180 for a geniune one - I had seen others for about £95. Anyway, I decided to bite the bullet and go for a genuine one for £80 plus the dreaded VAT.

    V8 Auto Gearbox Oil Cooler

We have a leak from the gearbox oil cooler that runs horizontally in front of the rad. It's about £180:eek: for a new one but I have found one from a breaker that should be a bit cheaper. Thing is, he says it came from a 1996 3.9 V8 manual Disco, and I thought it was only the autos that had it...

    lpg or not lpg

Running on LPG requires more from the HT system (harder to jump the spark gap on gas versus petrol). I've heard some people recommend replacing the HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm yearly, with genuine parts as the V8s don't like pattern HT parts. Kind of takes away some of the saving!!! I...

    lpg or not lpg

Get one that's been converted badly and you'll regret it, get a good 'un and you'll love it! V8 power (and noise!) with diesel economy. I get the equivalent of 30 mpg too although have seen up to 40 on a run (1994 3.9). Check for backfiring if a mixer ring system is fitted by flooring it...

    disco 300 sub

Update: Just replaced the speakers and got some sound!!! But not a lot, more than before but not exactly brilliant. However, when I unplugged one of the phono plugs the sound got a LOT better. Hmmmm, strange. (This is with the centre pin of the red phono connector connected to the red wire...

    disco 300 sub

Well, I have checked the cones and they are seized solid. But I have some fairly decent 6.5" full range speakers that I will connect up, will see whether the amp is working.

    disco 300 sub

 I did do that (briefly) when I was first testing the wires from the red connector. With it being so quiet using the phono (RCA) outputs I thought the amp must have high level (speaker) inputs. Using the speaker outputst made it slightly louder but not enough to hear it from the front so I...

    disco 300 sub

For 'speaker' connectios I should have said 'audio' connections - I realise the speakers are wired seperately...just thought previously that all car audio applications used a seperate floating ground. Thanks for the info. I re-wired ours this evening - can't hear anything from the rear door...

    disco 300 sub

Thanks James, that would explain things:confused: I assumed that as they were only 2 wires, that it was a mono amp...I had always thought the speaker - connections were seperate from the vehicle earth.

    disco 300 sub

If you look behind the stereo you should find a red plug dangling about there with a red and black wire connected to it. This is the + and - speaker feeds that go into the amp so you could just cut the red connector off and solder a phono connector on to go into the back of your stereo. BUT we...

    Disco V8/LPG or 300TDi

Sounds a bit pricy but then again it does sound like a good 'un... We paid about £1200 18 months ago for a 1994 M, 130k miles and similar condition (although did need a new radiator). The LPG conversion probably took about 4 days in total (in our case spread over about 6 months!!!) The kit...

    Disco V8/LPG or 300TDi

Hi There, You didn't say how old it was, does it have any MOT or tax? Have you checked things like the condition of the boot floor and front inner wheel aarches for rust, exhaust condition, smoke on start up, condition of the underneath to check it hasn't been damaged from being used off road...

    My Disco blows cold air!!!

Ours had exactly the same problem, only noticed it when we changed the rad for one that wasn't half blocked!!! Turned out someone had removed the thermostat to mask the overheating problems caused by the rad:( Dead easy to change on a V8, 2 bolts to undo on the inlet manifold, new stat and...

Fun day out in North Wales!

Seem to have opened up a whole can of worms here...:) Perhaps I should mention that it was a Christmas present, and that one of the alternatives looked at was the Land Rover Experience which was considerably more expensive!!! Yes I realise that 99% of people who are doing a lane anyway as a...
