    1.8 petrol reversing light switch

Edge. I have the exact same issue! Reversing lights work at the start of a journey i.e home from work, not working by time I reverse onto my driveway 25 mins later. Any ideas anyone?

hot and cold heater at the same time

I have had same issue recently, was thinking it could be an airlock in the top of my heater matrix leaving hot water trapped in the bottom half of the matrix and warm air at the top? Not certain tho :) Try thoroughly bleeding the system.

What have you done to your Freelander today

My last MOT the inspector failed it cause ABS light stays on, I argued that it is supposed to until you drive off, to show system is working properly on Freelander. He didn't believe me, reckoned he'd done loads of Freelanders before and never know that. I had to drive him across test station...

    Hippo is overheating......AGAIN!

Hi Danielsand. I am having the EXACT same sympyoms with mine, exept mine is rhe 1.8 K-series petrol motor. Started with coolant bubbling out of the expansion cap, bottom rad hose stone cold, top hose melting hot! Like you I suspected thermostat failure, so I replaced that, the water pump was...

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

Hi all. Update to the original thread: Replaced expansion tank (which had signs of crazing around bottle neck), and a new cap, both Bearmach parts. Since replacing these parts I have driven the vehicle around without any bubbling coolant from bottle cap. -Great! Also purchased a Block Chek...

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

Yeah. Tricky one to answer that. I haven't taken a temp reading, it gets hot enough for the fans to kick in at the same time as the boiling happens. But it only does this after a while of driving the car, at idle/revving the motor it doesn't boil at all. I'd have to drive it till it boils...

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

Hi. Thanks for the replies. Your thinking along the same lines as me. Namely, why is there so much air, where is it coming from, which does lead toward the head gasket/ combustion gases conclusion, but people do jump to that conclusion too hastily as many will agree, a faulty cap or cheap...

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

Hi all. I have an issue with the cooling system of my 1.8 Freelander. Looking for help but please read the following first.... *This issue has been covered again and again on this and other forums, the problem is that a lot of people offer their help and well-intended advice, the thread...

1.8 Petrol - Expansion bottle cap probs?

Hi. Your problem sounds very similar, I think we have a problem with the coolant being unable to circulate properly around the system, whether that be due to a faulty thermostat, an airlock in the system, perhaps a blocked radiator, or broken water pump. I'm basically trying to eliminate all...

1.8 Petrol - Expansion bottle cap probs?

Ok, thank you all so much. New thermostat coming up then! I will probably buy the remote thermostat kit which will help protect my HG in the future and also make future thermostat checks/changes a lot easier. I just picked up a brand new genuine thermostat bypass plate from eBay for £4.50 -...

1.8 Petrol - Expansion bottle cap probs?

Ok guys, my work is done for the week so I've had some free time to get my head under the bonnet :) here's what I've found so far... Started by degreasing, cleaning and drying all round the head, block, hoses everywhere nice and clean so I could spot any leaks etc. It's worth mentioning that...
