    Correct coolant for a 1999/T P38 (Thor)

Ive been using Liqui Moly KFS12. That should be available pretty much anywhere. I wouldnt use tap water, it will leave deposits in your coolant system. Deionised is the best and distilled is second best. You should be able to get distilled for reasonably cheapish from your local hardware store.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yeah thats pretty much the conclusion i came to too. Itll work to run a normal cut ring and pinion in the front but its gonna be abit more noisey and wear faster and be weaker(but the fact thats its only an 8 tooth pinion makes it way stronger than stock). On the plus side though you can reverse...

    P38 BeCM locked?

About 2 months ago my brother managed to get an eka code directly from landrover, they only asked for a vin number and it was the correct eka code they gave us. This was from landrover South Africa though.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Anyone with any experience with fitting Ashcroft 4.12 ratio ring and pinions to p38 diffs? My brother and i have been busy with this all weekend. First question: when he ordered the new ring and pinions he just ordered 2 sets without paying attention to having a reverse cut ring and pinion for...

    [P38] Exhaust gases in coolant

Yeah just follow the ARP instructions. Let it rest between torque stages too. The time you take to finish a beer is a good amount of rest time.

    P38A EAS again.

We have tried to order height sensors from Island 4x4 multiple times with no luck. Either they just dont respond or they respond with no stock. Because of this we are busy developing a mod that will allow you to fit magnetic potentiometers that are contactless with a 50million cycle lifetime...

    AN Lines on a P38

AN stands for army navy. Its a very universal usage fitting style developed by the americans in like 1930 i think to be field serviceable, reusable and not need any special tools to assemble. Most of the stuff is rated upto 1000psi and 260 deg celsius.

    AN Lines on a P38

So this whole story started with my engine oil cooler lines starting to weep oil where the rubber joins to the steel hoses. I had some AN8 bungs welded onto my engine and gearbox oil coolers and fitting some very nice looking lines. Then it kinda became an obsession where i want even more AN. Im...

    [P38] Exhaust gases in coolant

Just try and get as much of the crap out of the cylinders as you can. Obviously all the threads in the block. You can also flush the coolant passages with a hose pipe just to get some of the loose debris out.

    [P38] Exhaust gases in coolant

Yeah cylinder 8 bore actually looks fine form those new pictures. From the pictures it does not look like any of your liners have slipped either. You might have a coolant leak past the hg into your cylinders but its kinda hard to tell that from pictures, the hg doesn't look good around the...

    P38A V8 Fuel Leak

What silicone hose did you get? Reason im asking is im replacing it too but couldn't find fuel resistant silicone. Silicone degrades in contact with fuel so the hose needs some sort of liner inside it. I just ended up ordering a rubber one.

    P38A Front diff pinion wobble?

From quite a number of hours of research on the proshaft phasing topic: In phase being where the u joints line up with each other like the rear driveshaft does. -All genuine LR front driveshafts for the P38 have the u joints set slightly out of phase (i think its like 2 teeth on the slip...

    [P38] Exhaust gases in coolant

Cylinder 8 looks very funky, something is not right there. The whole bore is very black with lots of carbon buildup. What ive circled in green kindof looks like a hotspot. What ive circled in blue looks like a crack in the liner to me. Send some better pictures of that cylinder.

    [P38] Exhaust gases in coolant

Cylinder 2, 3, 8 all have ring wash. Its where oil gets past your piston rings and then washes the outer edge of the piston clean as you can see thers no carbon buildup on those edges. The top edge of cylinder 8 seems particulary bad. Also wipe down the oil on the block, but not the carbon...
