It was purely black top is better than green top!… sender and all fine now..I did buy a 300 fuel gauge (came with a 300 temp gauge) that fixed my fuel tank float sender problem!.. this mix and match stuff gets expensive.

Yeah I just researched and black for defender 300 and green for disco 300… mine is a defender engine… looks like I’ve changed a lot of bits for nothing!.. I hope. I’ll know on Tuesday when it arrives..

I have one somewhere i will dig it out...sometimes you need someone to tell you the obvious and actually test the temperature!

Thank you my gut feeling is its not overheating too...i have changed sensor for a 300tdi one which i believe was green the gauge is the old 85 4c engines i would guess as it a bit of a triggers broom. That gives me something to try..cheers

Hi I spent last night reading through the many posts on this. Overheated out of the blue on a short run so i started by changing the sensor, then the thermostat ,then i replaced the radiator, then the water pump, i changed all the water pipes for new, i tried all of the various methods of...

It was a dodgy earth on the back of the gauge I’d just fitted a new speedo cable so guess I buggered it then.. thanks everyone.

Thanks for the replies to answer a few … I’ll check the clock ground and flush the radiator…but it goes up steadily It’s a defender engine so I’m guessing I have the correct sensor Not sure I’m brave enough to run it to mot with the gauge reading that hot!

Booked for mot after 4 years messing..took her out and she got hot..replaced thermostat and replaced sensor ..still got hot checked all pipes.. the engine is getting over hot on 1 mile run the radiator stays cool..my thought is water pump has gone during off time but thought i'd ask..

Hi all and thanks we have replaced the loom all seems correct...we then tried a new sender and then a new gauge... keep getting an empty when should be full and full when should be empty..tried two senders and two gauges on the bench and still not getting a correct reading I think i understand...

Looking at getting a set of used alloys as mine are falling apart … freestyle seems to be the ones to get for the drum braked 110 I have .. there are several sets from disco 1 on eBay at present ,are they ok fit wise? It has freestyle on at the moment but they have been powder coated badly and...

If someone else comes across this thread looking for these bulb holders the ones mentioned above don't work ..i am going to see if our local specialist has any tomorrow and will take one with me.

Hi Yeah mine hold a little square ended bulb and twist into place behind the warning lights taking power from the copper ribbon. I have ordered the ones mentioned and will see if they work, if not i guess i could buy a binacle and take them off that!

I have searched but all i find is information on bulbs..does anyone have a part number or link so i can try to buy some of these little bulb holders as i am missing a load. Thanks in advance
