This is great therapy. I have now rebuilt the block and as you can see working on heads. I have loads of pics of the rebuild and will post pics when I have time for those that are interested. This car is like a poker tournament and I'm all in now and spent double what the car is worth

Removed heads from donor engine 3 am this morning and all looks good so far :) Good advice with the non return valve in block it was in a desperate state. I suppose it would be wise to have this donor block tested ? Thanks again. The other half said it is a firm NO to the coffee table idea :D

Plan B it is then and will use a spare engine i already have, hope that has a serviceable block I took a punt and brought it out of a scrapper that i never heard running

-
That makes perfect sense thanks for the explanation
-
I feared as much and will address whatever it takes to move forward. I have a question and without sounding stupid can you explain how it would affect the running / performance please ? the reason i ask the car ran perfectly before the engine was pulled apart to investigate coolant leak. TIA

Is that another word for fecked @DanClarke

This bore is the only one that i have concerns with ? all the others are in good condition

Among the mountain of invoices for work the previous owner had done it seems the head gaskets were done back in 2016 at a cost of over 2k
-
Thanks for that advice much appreciated i do have concerns about one bore  but as a backup plan i have a donor block
-
That would have been much cheaper ;)
