as a question, why line 6 of 8 instead of all 8 ?

Don't know tbh..

We bought the block in the dark, I:E we needed it quickly ;)

I found out it was not lined in all 8 when it came!!

Hate people who cut corners..

She does fun well though so can't complain, she's had 3k put on her since the rebuild ;)

Removed heads from donor engine 3 am this morning and all looks good so far :) Good advice with the non return valve in block it was in a desperate state. I suppose it would be wise to have this donor block tested ? Thanks again. The other half said it is a firm NO to the coffee table idea :D
Not sure how much testing somebody can do other than visual inspection of the bores. they could measure the size and roundness I guess.
Nothing stopping you replacing the piston rings but use mahle alusil genuine if you feel the need and big end bearing shells but i think the engines go on for 200k+ if looked after and it's the bores that ruin the day or timing chain guide failure.

Thanks @holidaychicken advice appreciated i have the donor block stripped down and all seems good and now have something to work with, I have the vanos repair kit carbon teflon rings and o- rings etc and new timing chain and guides which i got from Beisan Systems.I will at some point rebuild the old engine and will get the damaged block lined but that's another day. I will update soon

This is great therapy. I have now rebuilt the block and as you can see working on heads. I have loads of pics of the rebuild and will post pics when I have time for those that are interested. This car is like a poker tournament and I'm all in now and spent double what the car is worth

If I'd only spent double over the years I would consider it a win. Saint keeps track. I daren't!
