Rear reversing sensors, where to fit them

I fitted a set of aftermarket ones to my old TD5 last year when I changed the bumper. I put a sensor in each of the protruding parts (sorry, no idea what to call them! Overiders maybe?) and the outer two just before the corner strated of the bumper. The sensor box and sounder went into the...

OK where is it? Bluetooth that is.....

Hi I've just bought a RRS which i suspect has the same bluetooth as you have in the D3. My phone found Land Rover when it searched and connected so you're going to have to dig a bit deeper! I got lots of info regarding the set up from here; DISCO3.CO.UK - Index Another helpful...

    Spot light bar

I fitted one of those on my old V8, at the time it was the neatest option I could find for the money.

    Roof Bars

For longer loads, I use the Thule high foot gutter mount kit and bars, fit fine on both my old D1 and current D2. They retail at about £170 new, around £100 used. I'm just debating about a change to a RRS so mine could be available!

    Headlight question

I assume you're not in the UK then? 100w bulbs do kick off a lot more heat but the difference between good quality bulbs of 60w and 100w in normal headlights is not going to be that noticeable. I do a lot of rallying and have tried all options. If you're really not allowed even the LR...

    Td5 rear bumper

Funnily enough, I'm replacing mine this weekend. I think there are bolts behind the light units that hold it in place?

    Radio/phone hands free

I've used Parrot h/f kits in both of my Discos, the CK3100 I think. They've worked fine with both the D2 Highline unit (made by Alpine) and an aftermarket Alpine unit in my old D1. A mic that far from the driver is always going to struggle, the Parrot comes with a separate one you fit where...

How many miles should a TD5 do ?

My TD5 is also hovering around the 105,000 mark. Just done an 1800 mile round trip to France and no problems other than the suspension air bags not enjoying the cold. From my experience, whatever spares you take will not be the ones you need! Took my old V8 to France a few years ago and the...

    can anyone recommend some spotlights

The bar came from one of the regular parts suppliers, sorry can't remember which one. It's made by Simbar in Bristol and was listed for a D2 but as you can see, it fit's fine. Beware of the clear lenses, they throw a pencil beam and if not adjusted bang on, are hopeless. Drive is a more...

    can anyone recommend some spotlights

I would think that 8" lights will be too deep for a straight bumper mount? Shallow lights like the Hella Comet, Hella 1000 or Cibie Oscar+ are smaller in diameter and could well go on without problem. For 8", I had Hella 2000's on my last D1 as below but they needed a light bar to fit properly.

    TD5 Cold start issues

Have just been through similar noises, starting and running problems myself......60 litres of unleaded in a TD5 proved to be the cause of my woes.

How do I test the fuel pump?

Hi Al. My TD5 fuel pump problems were different, it just wouldn't draw the last few gallons from start up, fine if running but no way would it get going if not. The pump change was easy once I'd cleared the boot and the general advice I was given on here was change it anyway as it's bound to...

discovery insurance 17 year old ?

When I asked NFU about permanently adding my 18 year old (with one years NCB also with NFU) to my TD5 policy the sharp intake of breath from their end could have pulled the 'phone from my hand! Nothing doing, with 2 years they'd CONSIDER it.

12v feed in the back ???

As my D1 didn't have a rear socket unlike the D2 and the kids wanted to plug in all their stuff, I put a socket in the back of the console next to the ashtray, easy enough once the console was lifted up. I just nicked a supply from the front cigarette lighter. Nothing to say you couldn't extend...

    discovery 2

I've never owned a P38.....wanted to but warned off by so many people i actually took advice for a change. I've owned my TD5 for two years, paid the right price and expected some issues. Done 20,000 miles in it, now at 90,000 and this is the list; Fuel Pump - a regular problem I gather but...
