    1988 19J strange engine problems

UPDATE After cleaning all the crud out of the fuel tank, blowing through the fuel lines, removing the lift pump and inspecting, changing the fuel filter, air filter the problem lied with the injector pump. Nothing major thankfully. When idling lumpy and quietly I fiddled with the stop...

    1988 19J strange engine problems

Thanks. I did take the suction pipe off and blow through. I also took off the pipe from the lift to the filter and blew through. Nothing was in them. I had a suggestion about the lift pump could be an issue but itv primes up easy enough

    1988 19J strange engine problems

Hello. I have a 1988 90 19j 2.5TD The other day at a set of traffic lights i pulled away and it was even more gutless than normal. It’s as if it was in limp mode. I have no Rev counter but would estimate at around 2000-2200 rpm it ran out of steam. Flatlines, will not physically Rev any harder...

help needed. 1988 f plate paint colour

Thanks. To be fair I think it is back to the original colour going by panels inside which haven't suffered uv light. The paint on bulkhead is stratos. a customer of mine had a b reg and it looked similar to mine but I thought how much less faded the paint looked. Maybe it was a darker shade...

How much oil does your 19j breath ? and oil coming from turbo?

Thanks very much for your replies guys. I'm not by the motor at the moment but from memory of last week. With the oil/breather cap off the engine seemed fine. Not vast glugs of oil just a fine vapour. After speaking with a friend he advised to take off the pipe to air box and let it atmosphere...

How much oil does your 19j breath ? and oil coming from turbo?

i could do but will that suck it through as hard or not. presumably a smaller pipe won't pull as much through. The catch tank hasn't caught anything, i put a litre of oil in yesterday and about half of that has gone, only drove 2 hours. I think the manifold is from a 12j and was capped...

How much oil does your 19j breath ? and oil coming from turbo?

Sorry to bring up an old thread again but it seems you guys may be able to help. I have a 19j engine but the turbo was removed long before I bought it. The breather hose was stuffed into the pipe to manifold which was ok and probably done to stop the air filter from oiling up. However I have...

making oil catch tank for td any help?

Found loads of nice catch tanks on ebay. all come with10/15mm connections. Measured the connection on my oil filler cap and it is 17mm. Any ideas? Presumably i just route the pipe into catch tank then into the t before the air filter?

making oil catch tank for td any help?

Hi I am planning to make an oil catch tank on my 90 td. Vehicle no longer has a turbo on it. Probably due to reliability issues on the early models. Vehicle currently has breather from oil filler literally stuffed into intake pipe just before inlet manifold. They used to go in just before air...
