Thank you for your response. Its a factory fitted relay and heated windscreen. It worked perfectly fine prior to the disconnect of the dash switch. On reconnection you can clearly hear the click of the relay on and then off within 1 second. I know they work on a timer, usually 10 or 12 minutes...

Does anyone know why after disconnecting the windscreen heater switch and reconnecting it, the timer relay has set itself to half a second? Not plug & play then?
I should add, I disconnected all the central dash switches to replace the centre "puma dash" housing.
