    Disco 2 Won’t bloody start!!

You've done the voltage check on cranking at the battery. Try doing the same thing at the starter and see if you get a much bigger voltage drop. The going dark tends to indicate a big voltage drop which means high resistance somewhere. Could be a bad crimp on a battery cable or even a fracture...

    intermittent ACE warning light.

Made the mistake once of being a bit heavy handed with a jet wash and blasted the pressure transducer. It was quite temperamental after that. If I remember there was what looked like a ring of silicone that I blasted off which obviously let water in.

    overheat

We've never changed the cap and its worked fine in the past. No aircon so just the viscous fan. Once you take the fan cowling off the radiator is easy to get at so easy to feel it. Already changed the stat. Difficult to tell if the viscous fan is locking up. I think I need to give it a really...

    Seems to be fine.

    overheat

Given it a run for about 20 minutes at idle and the hoses are all hot, gauge showing up to temp, heater working but radiator is uniformly stone cold. Think it needs a longer run under load.

I'll check that but I have to say, having run rad flush through it, what came out was completely clear.

    overheat

We've got a 2007 110 2.4tdci. Runs perfectly well until we start towing with it. After a while it starts to overheat. First did it with about a 2 ton boat on the back. Got hot enough to go into safe mode and had been towing for about an hour up to that point. Only cooked up when faced with a...

    brake master cylinder

Right. Finally got a new master cylinder. Tried to fit it this evening. Cannot get any fluid out of one of the ports. Other one seems OK. Am I doing something stupid or does it sound like a faulty part?

Belt tensioner and idler, quality of parts

Check the exhaust manifold gasket. Common problem and can sound just like a squealing belt.

    master cylinder repair

That's a good point. I have got a new clutch slave cylinder I've been meaning to change for ages. Any issues with fitting a new one? Biggest risk seems to be losing the push rod into the bell housing.

    master cylinder repair

This may be of interest to someone. Problem with brake pedal slowly sinking to the floor so decided that a master cylinder repair was needed. Ordered a kit which oddly appeared with a new reservoir. Went to fit it and discovered that this repair kit was just a kit to replace the reservoir...
