Problem solved and through it's MOT with the help a truck driver/mechanic at work, who incidently was more interested in the problem as opposed to whether it was called a jeep, truck or Land Rover.

I presume the alarm on the LAND ROVER is likely to keep going off intermittantly until the fault is found and recitified. Its now dark, my tools are locked in the back, can only open the drivers door. Could have been worse. At least I didn't refer to it as a JEEP.
