I've had a good poke around the defender and it all seems pretty solid! drives surprisingly well for its year! genuine 130K and one lady owner! from new! My disco is a series 2 auto so i dont know the 5 speed manual in the defender!

Continuity is good at the switch, i havent checked the pump end yet! my next job i suppose. is there any way to bypass the ecu just to test the pump? ie; jumping a wire from the battery to the pump relay?

Hi again! The ol disco ran out of fuel the other day! i tried all the bleeding procedures suggested and gant get it to fire. from what i can see (or hear should i say)the fuel pump isnt running in the tank. i took the fuel line of the low pressure to the filter but theres nothing! nada...

i tried crankin its nuts off! but nowt! is there a proper sequence to use?

Can anyone tell me how you bleed a td5 fuel system after a tank run dry!? Whats the minimum fuel needed in the tank to bleed it? and how do you bleed it! :( thanks!

Make sure your hi lo range lever is fully engaged! mine clonks like an Irish dancer in clogs if you haven't pulled the lever fully back into hi range!

Hi i changed mine about 4 months ago as i had the same issues and it did cure the problem! The main contamination seemed to be in the plug on the cylinder head rather than the ecu. change the harness and see if that cures the miss fire (it will cure the oil leak) before changing the rather...
