I changed the bulbs on mine to Ring XenonUltima and personally I think it made a huge improvement.

I agree as I suspect that the starter solenoid is the most likely cause of the problem.

It may be worth opening up the control module and inspecting for dry solder joints or areas where corrosion on the PCB is causing problems.

The starter motor relay in behind the side panel in the drivers side foot well. The relay should be the second one from the back. The colours of the wires to the relay base should be:-
85 - white with red stripe
86 - black with orange stripe
30 - brown with white stripe
87 - brown with red...

How old is the battery? If it is over 3 years old it may be worth getting it load tested to check its cold cranking capacity. Also check the earth connection from the engine to the chassis.

60mm x 120mm is available in 2m, 1m and 450mm lengths on eBay from B E J Engineering. He may be able to supply steel cut to size for you.
Anything over 3m in length and you start hitting problems in finding couriers that will transport it.

I find that a product called Fertan is quite good a converting rust if you get there product in gel form. The manufacturer used to send out free samples via their website if you sent them an email.

Tested today with a T4 system and it came up with a software mismatch problem between the engine ECU and the SLABs ECU. ECU reprogrammed using this system and now everything appears to be working correctly. Now need to give it a long test drive to see if all of the gremlins have left the system.

The tune was set against the vin number and the programmer immediately recognised that the engine ECU was a new unit. Reading the live data from the SLABs ECU it is showing the throttle position and the engine load. Took car for short test drive with a mechanic in the passenger seat...

I only have a Hawkeye diagnostics unit. I do not believe that I can programme settings with this. I cannot see anything in the options menu. The engine ECU was programmed in by a neighbour using a Autologic unit. I do not remember this asking for throttle pot type settings.
