I fitted a new clutch cylinder and looking at the inside of the pipe connection it looks like a bubble flare fitting and not double flare which it should be. Can someone confirm that and can I use double flare in a bubble flare end?

sorry for late reply, all sorted now but was pulling with lever. it turns out the plug i was sold had a shoulder inside and so didnt allow me to compress the spring enough to get the thread to bite...

I am having problems with shifting red knob gear when the plug and spring plunger are put in. it seems the only position that it allows me to screw in the plug is with the gear in the back position but once in i cant shift it? is there an intermediate position as on the diagram in the workshop...

I have spent the last 8 years in Africa with my 300 tdi and so far have been to 26 countries, have carried a few basic spares and everything have managed to find parts for the 300 tdi. Had I had a TD5 I think i would have had a few problems as there are loads of 300's but not many TD5's.

sensor checked, reads max temp, connections all checked so pretty sure it is not the wiring. Maybe it is air in the thermostat housing.. if that was the case whats the bleed procedure?

I recently changed the P gasket and viscous coupling and before I did the temp gauge worked and read normal, since completing the job I now get no reading at all! Could the viscous coupling be faulty? Or could there be air in the system and therefore not giving a correct reading?
