I've been advised the brake pipes that run from front to rear on my disco 3 2006 need replaced, I've also been told the body needs to be removed from the chassis to do this at a cost of £1200, is this correct? I find it weird that Land Rover would design brake pipe replacement to work that way...

Don't you have the users manual? If you don't I could look up mine and post which fuse it is. It could also possibly be a loose connector behind the dash.

Sounds a bit 'iffy' to me, I had a Freelander and now have an 06 disco 3, no leaks on mine (touch wood). If the car is under warranty however they should be honouring the warranty and fixing the problem. If I was you and you have a warranty document still valid/in date tell them you want it...

My 06 plate disco 3 lost acceleration on Thursday, struggles to pick up speed in 1st gear till the tirbo kicks in. On the motorway I need to drop down to 3rd or 4th to get anywhere near 70 mph. What I have noticed is the engine is a lot quieter since this happened, no typical 'diesel'...

Use cable ties and pull it free of the area that's causing the damage, i.e. tie it onto the car body somewhere.

I'd hold out for a Freelander 1 TD4, from 2002 onwards they've got BMW engines, I've got a 1.8 Kalihari 53 plate and it's cost me around £1200 in maintenance and replaced parts in just over two years. My next buy WILL be a BMW engined model.

Another valid point is that they are fixed in a way which prevent you jacking up your car.
