I want the Landy. Will not pay road tax if I do not have to. Do not want to get hit with a road tax evasion charge later because I have not been paying when I should have been. So dare I buy a modded pre-73 and continue not paying tax just because the ebay advert says I don't have to?

Been looking at Landys, and seen plenty of Series IIA advertised as having free road tax as pre-Jan 73, despite new ganvanised chassis, suspension and unleaded head engine work etc.... Is this legit? If not, then does the MOT tester pick this up? I want to buy a road tax free, but not want...

hi Guys, Still looking for a Series III, but seen a great 2A. I have never driven a vehicle without synchromesh and am nervous about it. What do you say? How much hassle is it? Do you have to stay in 3rd and never change down till you stop? Appreciate advice please. Cheers, David

No point paying twice - why not just spray the "bowl" with metalic silver paint and it will look great.......:)

Seen a V8 Series III lightweight for sale and the owner says he gets around 200 miles off £80 of fuel. Road use. Does that sound right - about 10 mpg by my maths?:eek:

Thanks Stu, I have to admit I expected that the gearbox would be in the same place on all Series III 88, so a suitable bellhousing would enable an engine match with no effect on gearbox, shafts etc.... i thought at worst it would just be moving engine mounts back and forth as required. I...
