Only other thing I can think off is a damaged IRD, possibly from a VCU that was well past it's lifespan? Hopefully someone on here has experienced that to comment whether the symptoms sound the same?

I don't want to sound like I'm asking dumb questions for the fun of it but... Are you sure your not in too high a gear when going uphill? Do you still get plenty of 'umph' if you put your foot down despite the shuddering, and does it die out (the vibration) if you either level out, or increase...

Should be fine to run it without the whole prop shaft and VCU as I did the same with mine while waiting for a replacement VCU. Could I also suggest the rear drive shaft UJs? I believe if they are starting to get play you will hear a knocking when putting or removing load from the drive shaft...

I have the same issue (pump not firing) but haven't yet been asked to take the bumper off for it. I'd highly doubt it's an MOT requirement seeing as you can black the windows, not to mention commercial vehicles can have them panelled up.

Good stuff - I'm off to Devon for a week on the 12th and back on the 19th so I will try and make it along to the next run after that. Do you guys go regular? Would be nice to meet up there if other peeps are going

I'm only just down the road from whaddon, but I have no idea on how difficult it is there, and whether a stock (atr tyres) could tackle it. Though I have to admit I wouldn't dream of tackling that water :o)

Does the gearbox have to be in neutral or does it happen if you just disengage the clutch?

I too use Outdoors, mostly for walks and a convenient OS map. Locky, have you added any of the green lane routes to Outdoors? I have started adding some for south lakes in preparation for my trip there in June - would be great to share them if you have yours recorded too?
