The plug in question fits into the base of the door lock assembly @ 45 deg If and when the rain stops i will have another look and try removing the plug.......wouldn't budge last time though. Probably end up taking the lock assembly out for a closer inspection and lube Thanks for your help...

Any idea why the fob would lock the door, but not the dash switch ?

I have had the door trim off and drenched the lock mechanism in WD 40, but to no avail. Not quite sure what you mean by "sticky thread?"
