Thanks Nodge, I'll change the oil as a priority. It'll have a 'B' service asap to start with and I've been reassured that the clattering when cold is more my imagination than an actual issue so hopefully all is well.

I'm trying to get the excess back, looks like being a long process though.
The car is a 5 door 2001 TD4, 132000 miles. It's been a fantastic car, been in the family for about 8 years just for me to have a prang 6 months after getting it!
The insurance is a real pain...

I did consider it but can't for a few reasons - mostly money.
I had to buy a different car (Volvo) in the meantime which ate the payout (£675 excess had to come off before that- ouch) so not much to do it up.
The other reason is that my insurance company won't reinsure it, and so trying to get...

Hiya!
A motorcyclist recently decided to fall off his bike and let it smack my Freelander. Very light damage but as the airbag deployed, it got written off as a Cat C.
The insurance company let me have it for £80 which was a no brainer, but obviously now I have to get shot of it.
Do you guys...
