    Truck cab roof

i cant find the exact one i bought, it was a few years back. it was this type of stuff though: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Graphite-Black-Carpet-Underlay-6mm-Great-Value-PE-Foam-Budget-Cheap/172512529013?epid=543321474&hash=item282a8c4a75:g:jQIAAOSw44BYk5OM the one i got was about 13mm thick...

    Truck cab roof

i got a big roll of closed cell foam carpet underlay. cost about £20 on ebay and there was enough to line out the whole hard top of my 109, and enough to do it again if i wanted. its not very thick but its really effective for temperature and sound insulation, and it was dead light so sticking...

    Gearbox crossmember removal

only modified or military chassis have the removable crossmember. if you have a removable one then its really obvious as the bolts are directly under the rails. i have never had to do any more than use a lever to get mine out too so why you would need to spread the rails is beyond me.

    heat and tuning

it has been known to boil a couple of times, coming out from the overflow bottle. on those occasions it was on exceptionally hot days and it wasnt hissing out but when i stopped it would puddle up on the drive. the gauge sits up in the top third most of the time and it is generally really hot in...

    heat and tuning

perhaps the LED's are a bit much, a nurburgring sticker instead?;) seriously though, its not extra power i am after, i have only recently put the petrol back in. i just mean that i have got it all set up as per the manual but a few people have mentioned a little advance can help the motor run...

    heat and tuning

i am investigating tuning my engine a little to get the best from it. so i have ordered myself a turbo, some LED washer jets and a massive exhaust!:p specifically i am wondering about timing. i have read that if the timing is a bit retarded then it can cause the engine to run hot. if its a hot...

No MOT from May 20 2018

so this is actually going to be a thing? next year my landy will be both tax an MOT exempt? its a 1977 ex-mod, released in 2003 but thankfully it already had the proper plate on it when i bought it. i wonder if we will see a lot more vosa checkpoints around after that, i havent seen many around...

    Series 3 gearbox rebuild problems

i got a couple of kits (main and transfer) last year from shop4autoparts and i am very happy with the quality of them. none of it was any trouble to fit and i have not had a hint of trouble with those parts since.

    unpleasant surprise

been giving the head a good scrub and check and thankfully that looks like it is not too bad. the ports are quite grotty but the bits i could get to didnt suffer from much solid stuff so they should clean out ok. curiously, when i was removing the valves i see that there are no valve seals at...

    unpleasant surprise

i am not messing about with a new engine again. i have not long converted it back to petrol and i managed to pick up a 2.25p for £50 and got it running with fairly minor work. it is just tired and is only meant to work as a gap filler while i get a proper military unit really tidy and plonked...

    Series 3 gearbox rebuild problems

i made that layshaft bolt mistake the first time round too. its easiest to crack that before you take the transfer case off. i made a little bar that locks the front propshaft flange to the transfer lever bracket on the bellhousing. then put in into low ratio and that locks everything up nicely...

    unpleasant surprise

well the cost is where it boils down most of the time. if the other one would need the same kind of work then i would get the worse one up to scratch but given that the other one is at least still turning i would expect it to be better. anyone have any ball park ideas on what kind of money a...

    unpleasant surprise

i have a couple of engines i picked up with an eye to rebuilding. one was seized so that is the one i am opening up. at the moment i am mainly interested in the head as i want a recon one, and thankfully that looks salvageable if crusty. so far i havent seen any signs of cracks anyway. that is...

    re-introduction

i have been registered on here since i first got a landy though i have only recently returned. i am currently on my 3rd landy, the first was a series 3 pickup which was an utter flop and eventually blew itself up and upon closer inspection i found the chassis to be well beyond repair and frankly...
