Turns out it was tested using T4 but only for the imobiliser resync. Anyway, good news is they fitted a new crank position sensor and hey presto, she fired up. Thanks once again to all who offered help and advice, it was much appreciated.

Hi there, I'm no expert but your ticking noise may be a blocked hydraulic tappet. There are additives you can add to the engine oil which claim to restore proper tappet function. Hope this helps.
